The Craftsman’s Journey – Exact Carpentry Launceston

Exact Carpentry was built on a simple belief: do the job properly, respect the client, and take pride in every detail. My name is Adam, and this is the story behind the craftsmanship I bring to homes across Launceston, West Tamar, Northern Midlands.

Where It Began – Poland, 1980

My journey with timber started in 1980 at the Jachtowa Shipyard in Szczecin, where I studied boat‑building and outfitting seagoing yachts. I wanted to create work that was precise, durable and worth being proud of.
When the shipyard collapsed in 1984, I moved into a small craft workshop. That workshop became my real education. Under a strict and highly skilled Master, I learned:

Furniture making
Kitchens and wardrobes
Construction joinery
Windows and doors
Materials science
Machine operation
Discipline and accuracy
Those seven years shaped everything I do today.

A New Standard – Sweden

Moving to Sweden introduced me to a different level of precision. Scandinavian craftsmanship is clean, exact and disciplined. Thirty years in Gothenburg refined my approach to:

It was a second apprenticeship – one that sharpened every skill I had learned in Poland.

When I arrived in Australia, I found a building culture that often relied on improvisation and speed. Instead of being discouraged, I saw an opportunity: to bring real craftsmanship back into everyday carpentry.
Exact Carpentry was created to deliver work that is straight, clean and built to last – the way it used to be done.
